constellr Joins Telespazio-Led Feasibility Study: Pioneering Study to Define Future EU Earth-Observation Services Platform

As announced during the European Space Conference on January 23, 2024, constellr joins as a key newspace representative of an industrial team led by Telespazio Italy to conduct a feasibility study for upcoming EU Earth-Observation services catered for governmental use.

The study aims to assess the feasibility of a new service catering to key applications within security and defence, leveraging the wealth of data provided by the EU's Earth observation satellites. EU institutions and member states stand to gain from the resulting geo-information infrastructure, facilitating the sharing and production of high-quality data and products. This will offer new capacities in synergizing with various European and national programs.

In collaboration with entities including Airbus, e-GEOS, Geoville, Hisdesat, Leonardo, PWC, OHB, and Thales Alenia Space, constellr leverages its expertise of earth observation requirements and understanding of newspace principles to contribute meaningfully to the consortium's goals. Alongside constellr, the industrial team is also supported by subcontractors such as, DefSecIntel, Endurosat, GAF, Hensoldt Analytics, ISDEFE, Planetek Hellas, Preligens, Spacemetrics, Telespazio France and Thales Alenia Space.

constellr plays a crucial role by ensuring the consideration of advanced technologies such as secure cloud operations, data fusion, and artificial intelligence, ensuring alignment with the operational needs of the governmental user community. constellr provides the newspace perspective, consolidating user needs and use cases, and conducting a gap analysis of missing capabilities. As part of the consortium, constellr benefits from insights into relevant system architecture solutions and security requirements which influence the design of the forthcoming platform. The study will help deepen an understanding of constellr’s data applicability in prospective future security applications. This collaborative endeavour marks a notable leap forward in Europe’s Earth Observation capabilities.
